The long-awaited prequel to HBO’s Game of Thrones, titled House of the Dragon, was released in August 2022.
The series, which is based in part on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, takes place 172 years before Daenerys Targaryen is born and around 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. In addition to the events preceding up to and including the Targaryen war of succession, widely known as the “Dance of the Dragons,” it portrays the beginning of House Targaryen’s demise.
